Hi Dylly, nice one, ok, I Was busy some time back making a
comedy clip with the Tardis and could not find a good Tardis
control station.
There is one in sketchup but its not in a Muvizu style?

Something like the new Dr Who control centre would be cool!!!

a very generous offer there - I would love a simple camping tent for an animation I want to do. All the sup models I've tried have had flaws.

Thanks

I'm on it!

My daughter is a Dr Who fanatic, so I will be raiding her vast collection of books & magazines (the crap that flows out of her bedroom door that I normally throw in the bin). In fact if I asked her she could probably give me the exact measurements, including David Tennents inside leg measurements I've no doubts.

Now what kind of tent do you need Mick? Is it the old fashioned six man Icelandic patrol tent we used to have in the Scouts, or those huge things that come complete with wardrobes you see these days...or the little dome ones that will be employed when the Toon get into Europe next season?

It's probably a lot to ask but a vehicle (preferably a van) that characters could actually get inside would be really great for my garage band series! The guys may want to play gigs out of town sometime down the road. (hint hint)

are you familiar with John Shuttleworth?
He did a song about his agent Ken Worthington and a camping trip he had with his wife
www.youtube.com/watch?v=Qx5PN_xrBmA

I'm guessing he would have a smallish but comfortable tent - suitable for a down to earth middle-aged couiple with higher expectations

Ken has his own twitter account here

Vehicles are on the list, just been playing with some new plugins to facilitate the shapes (curviloft for one, and using more and more features from the 1001 bit pro plugin these days).

I think I saw John Shuttleworth at a folk club some years back....arrgh did I just let that slip? I used to play guitar with a folk band...I admit it...and the banjo....mandolin....I once dabbled with....Oh I admit it I can play the concertina....it was a natural progression you see....Oh the shame....I once...I once...OK damn it I was a pub organist, I even played the Tower Ballroom...but then I found rock and roll...

My name is Tim and I'm a crapmusicaholic. It's been a year since I last played swing music on a keyboard and three days since my last jig on a concertina...but everyday I go without, I get better!

Hi Dilly,
so you use SketchUp + plugins for create models, then 3DS Max for textures map, then export to Muvizu?

I'm better now can I have my crayons back? Ahem!

Hi Gimmick, my work flow alter's depending on what I'm creating. I usually start building individual components in SketchUp...then switch to 3ds Max to bring all the components together and do the mapping. Texturing is done in Gimp and Mudbox and then everything brought together into 3ds Max for scaling and export ready for Muvizu.

I'll make a request, since I have not found what I wanted.
Would you like a window, half broken down, or something. In a funny way. Or with wood capping (not the whole window) in front.

Sorry if it is very uncomfortable.

Here you go, just a very quick model, but is this what you are looking for? If not then post a picture so I can get it to look more like the window you need. Anyone wanting a copy here's a link to download it.

www.animationworkshop.co.uk/boarded_window.zip

There's no ao map but there are two different id maps, one textured and one in plain colours.

At the minute Muvizu does not allow you to import a single model with transparencies. But there is a way around this. What I will have to do is make you another model without glass. Import this model into Muvizu. Then import a second model I will include in the zip file, this will be the glass. This will have different import settings. Use these settings for the glass...

Give me a couple of minutes to sort it out.

Hey Dylly, saw your post and looked in the textures section, I'm trying to find a texture map of the white suite/vest w/back wingtip open shirt /gold chain that Travolta wore in Saturday Night Fever....for the fat man. - EEF

P.S. - btw Did you see my latest upload just curious what you think? OH and are the weights I constructed in Muvizu considered legitiment 3d r not?...I used the geometric shapes in Muvizu to painstakingly create the weights.

Hi EEF,

Enjoyed the clip! I agree with the guys though the font needs pumping up a bit. Now on the 3D front, I don’t think there is such a thing as a ‘legitimate’ 3d model when it comes to props in Muvizu. I liked the great use you made of the Muvizu basic objects, and to me that is 3D modelling. I don’t know if everyone will agree with me but I think ‘whatever you can knock together to make the scene’ is part of the enjoyable ethos behind Muvizu. I’m thinking of making a few tutorials on modelling basics that should get you going with knocking up your own props etc with SketchUp in no time.

When it comes to character texturing I’m a bit of a duffer with the Muvizu characters, nowhere near the high standard of Chuckles, Ziggy and Hugmyster, especially in the area of suits I use Ziggy and Huggy’s textures.

Thanks Dylly,
1. I went smaller on the font because I didn't want to take away from the animation...but mostly,
2. I misjudged how small it'd actually be because I am using my 42" inch tv as my monitor, and I actually am sitting just a few feet back from it...so I didn't think "Oh it's gonna be alot smaller on someone else's monitor!" LOL...Sorry about that...I guess it just means you'll have to watch it over and over again until you get to read it all LOL...just kidding! - EEF

Hi Dylly, that's a very kind offer. I've just started using Muvizu for an activity to help to teach job interview skills to recent migrants learning English.

At the moment, there isn't much in the way of workplaces or offices up here - there's quite a nice open plan office but this isn't quite the thing for a job interview scenario. Any chance that you might be able to whip up either a conference room or manager type office? (Whatever's easier really)

cheers

Hi Colsim

No problem, I'm a little distracted at the minute (due to be a granddad tomorrow so everyone here is running around like blue ar....well I'm sure you get the picture), but if you send me some reference pictures of the type of scene you want I will have a look see. Reference images would be a good idea as the only interviews I've ever had were in various university and Brit Club bars.

Best regards

Hi colsim,

sorry I didn't get back to you sooner, but I got a little sidetracked. One of the things that sidetracked me was round shapes and things like folds in cloth placed into the model. So after a couple of days fiddling with different tools etc I'm starting to pull together a set for you. The first piece is finished.

I'm quite pleased with the results especially some of the curves in the seat etc, a few minor adjustments for scale appropriate to each character will be needed upon import.

Hello Dylly, I am looking for a small favour for a major production.
I appreciate you don't have a lot of time on your hands but crafting the exquisite piece of sculpture that I am requesting would I think be a spiritually rewarding experience.

I need a turd, a steaming mound of poo. A pile of s**t. The stereotypical Mr.Whippy shape would be ideal if possible. I am afraid the creation of this is beyond my limited abilities. Approximately 3 to 4 metres tall in MZ to allow for scaling. ( I need some normal size ones and some quite large, head high ones. ) see pic......

http://i.imgur.com/j5BTC.jpg

As far as colour goes, a darker Cadbury's Dairy Milk Colour would be better. Don't worry about the texture too much as long as it looks slightly pitted as in pic and not too shiny. If you can manage this extraordinary request I would be eternally grateful as would the people of Dragonton.

This post is a serious request and not a joke and will self destruct in several years.

Thanks, John

Love the office chair and Zombinator btw.

Thanks for offering, @Toonarama but the shape is very important and I fear that particular specimen may not be quite what I'm looking for. It has to be pretty much the same shape as the photo due to the fact that it will be used in several different ways.

Oh BTW Dylly, I forgot to mention that I need two versions, one "normal" and one made of grey stone, ( statueish ), if it's not too much trouble.

Right...so...a large Richard the Third, a Tory manifesto, indeed a threepenny bit...this sounds like a job for...(fanfare) my Mrs! A woman who once caused me to perform an emergency stop travelling at...well lets say 70mph...by shouting "WATCH OUT". As the car screamed to a halt and I braced for the impact of the air bags...she continued "There's a dog over there having a massive crap!" I turned my whiplash tortured neck to face my beloved and lovingly screamed "YOU MENTAL BINT"!

Thank you for your rapid and well thought out response.

I don't envy you, with a Mrs like that who needs enemies. If she can produce said artifact and you can digitise it within the next say 50 years I would be extremely grateful.

In all seriousness sir, I am in no position to impose on your valuable time so suffice is to say, at your earliest possible convenience.

I can work around its absence for now, although without spoilers, it is quite important.

To be honest Dylly I don't really care how long it takes, it's the quality of the turd that matters.
EDIT: http://i.imgur.com/j5BTC.jpg

One stone colour ala statue. One Daiiry Milk colour ala faecal matter.

Thanks again for even considering my request. Full credit will be given of course.
I would normally now post the kind of sycophantic flattery that you have come to expect but I can't be bothered and you are probably sick and tired of being called "Mr. Wonderful".

EDIT: At least I've given you an excuse to eat as much chocolate as you want. Clever eh?

I am truly awestruck. Thanks so much Dylly, your genius knows no bounds. It looks just perfect. I can't wait to get my hands on it even if I do have to wash them afterwards. I will credit you in full of course, ( if you really want to be associated with this particular model ).

I know it sounds crazy but this is an integral part of the whole story/series and as such had to be of a very high quality. That's why I turned to the master for help and he has not let me down in producing a spectacular pile of excrement. Big Grin

Yes, it's a tall order, adn since I have virtually almost zero modeling experience, I have to ask if it's out there or if you can make it:

I'd like to have an entire int/ext complete Castle...like a Draculas type castle w/moat or something or a Medieval one...just thinking of several ideas here for a creepy cool castle I cannot build LOL.

Anyway I'll add my own request now.

I'd like a jar, scalable so I can fit a character in it, made of translucent glass. Like an old fashioned jam jar with a lid. No collision.

I did find one in Sketchup but cannot seem to get the textures to come through , not sure about getting opacity/tranparency right or collisions either, despite Jamie's great tutorial.

Thanks,
Simon

OK guys I'm back home and here's a jar with a lid...screw top.

The model is in two parts, the first is the glass jar which just has collision on the bottom surface to stop it dropping through the floor.

The Model should be loaded with these settings to get the transparency correct.

The lid has full collision so that a character can stand on top of the jar. Simply click 'floats in the air' to position the lid on top of the jar.

Hope this is what you had in mind Simon as the only empty jar I had for reference was a coffee jar. The models were uploaded to Muvizu this evening so as soon as the guys sober up...I mean get back into the office...

Here's one for the Hamster, same rules as the Jam Jar...

So the next question (not necessarily for you Dylly) is can we add an adjust opacity control?
I don need one for the jam jar but I'm think that it would be good for glass stuff generally.
Maybe we could flag the alpha channel as adjustable or something?

Perhaps it would be a good idea to have a helicopter without propellers, and another asset for propellers, then rotating the propellers to make it look like it's flying. It's just an idea, not a prop request.

Would it be possible to ask for Directors Chairs w/customizable canvases (words/colors/images)? and/or panaflex movie cameras for filmmaking? I want to make a movie about moviemaking? I posted a whole thing in the forums and even wrote muvizu about a moviemaking "pak" but I haven't heard anything back yet. ANyway just curious Thanks! - EEF

Sure Eef I will give it a whirl...I made something similar to the panaflex camera before but I'm sure I can knock up a simplified version.

Hi Dylly,
A small point about the lid. It seems to have a strange shadow when view from above - the sides are sowing through or something.

Also there's some weird clipping going on. As you can see the camera sees the top of the jar in the foreground whereas the main view sees the while of the lid. I guess this is more a Muvizu thing than to do with the model.

Any thoughts?

Simon

Did you import the lid with map alpha to opacity as well as the jar? That's the only way I was able to get it to happen. If you leave map alpha to none it works fine, for me anyway

I really need a 3d donkey, doesn't need to be animated just static. At the moment I am trying to work around by using a picture of one, but a 3d one would really do justice to the epic-ness of the piece in production. Got any love for me? Keep on Dancin, Dan.

DancinDna - There's a pretty good one in sketchup.

Seeing as you're new here I have exported it. I have sent a PM with the link (it's someone else's work so I can't post it to the site).
