I'm making a movie for a school project, and would like to know if there would be a way to selectively disable/enable gravity for an object to make it fall, as I would like to have it fall in front of a camera. Help would be appreciated, as the project is due on the 19th.

If you right click on an object. You bring up a properties box. You can click on float in air box to have it float in the air. to animate it click on the object and then at the top of Muvizu click on prepare and go to prepare object movement or something along that lines. (trying to remember off top of my head ) Click on direct and you can move it to go up and down by pressing Q for up and E i believe for down. Hope that helps.

To bring up a character with a vertical drop, you must create a flat polygon. Then you program a parallel range movement on the ground, then you place your character and abstract above the drop point (end trimmings are in the time line editor).
You can also bring up a moving character sets (use the mouse wheel to move slowly)

Prepare >> Object Movement >> Gravity

Try this tutorial first....

I tried the gravity method, but it doesn't appear to be falling. Can someone help? I just turned the gravity to 100 and clicked record. It doesn't appear to be moving at all, actually, manually or otherwise.
Also, my project is basically an anti-littering pollution kind of film, and I'm trying to have the bottle prop fall into a ground plane with the water texture.

hello. float the bottle at the height you want it to drop from. pull up the direct object movement thingy, set movement speed to 100%. press the direct button, when you want it to drop use the E button on your keyboard, this will move the bottle down so it looks like its dropping. thats it

if you want it to drop through a ground plane, do the object movement first then add the ground plane after so it will go through it.

I tried that already, and the object is not responding to any input from me.

are you using the 'prepare objects' menu first if you dont initially prepare it and then move to direct it often does not respond.

Usually you go into the prepare menu set it up initially and then move to direct if you set gravity to 100 usually just a nudge gets it to fall down sometimes you have to move the rotation point depending on the object.

Urbanlamb and fazz have the right idea here. Once you set gravity to 100 (or whatever) you need to give the object a little nudge once you start recording so it'll know to do something. Just press the Q or E keys once and gravity should kick in.
