Like it?!

I LOOOOOVVVVVEEEEED IT!

Brilliant.

Someone's done the Knights of the Round Table in Lego.

One of the best lego animations I've seen.

Take a look:

I've just downloaded the set, and still can't work it out - how the hell did you texture the rocks?
(Rocks which look bleedin' amazing I might add - another ace set worship )

Yip, i have to echo ziggy
Great set. Before i downloaded I assumed the construction was going to be revealed as a combination of backdrops and then there it was before me and bugger all like i had imagined!!

...So how did you create the rocks? what was the software of choice for them?, talk us through your process please.

we're sitting up straight and listening carefully

Thanks for sharing the set by the way!

Top man!

I've found that when you import ASE objects, if you select "Don't use ID Textures" you can use image maps. What I don't understand is how you got the scale on them. When I do it, the image tiles a BILLION times no matter what the size of the original image is, so it ends up looking like tiny dots.

Any insight on how to get the images to wrap properly would definitely be appreciated.

I made a quick video for you dreeko showing the process from start to finish. Its not a tutorial explaining how to, its more just to show u visually rather than trying to explain the process in writing. The rock that I made in this video didn't have any real thought put into it or time spent in perfecting the UVWs but it does outline the steps I use.

Hope this is of some use to you m8

I put it in fast forward so not to bore the **** out of you Big Grin

It can be slowed down in VLC player with the + and - keys if needed.

@Danimal Sounds like you didn't add UVs on your model. I show that process at super humsan speed in this video Big Grin

Jonbez,

I have just watched the tutorial.

I now feel like an amateur.

Jon, I can assure you I didn't add UVs when I modelled because I have no idea what that means. I saw when you did it in the video, still don't know what it is. Or, for that matter, how you so easily added a collision box because even following the tutorial here step by step I could never get the collision to work using even a basic shape like a cube.

I use Carrara and Google Sketchup for the simpler stuff and have had nothing but problems. Perhaps it's a sign to stop trying to model my own stuff...

Thanks for the video though, it was way cool!

It wasn't really a tutorial More of a quick demonstration because I felt showing visually would be more helpful than me trying to explaining in txt. If I get time next week I'll do a detailed tut with a voice over.

UVs just lets you plan how the texture sits on the model. I'm sure there is some in depth tutorials on youtube for what ever program you use.

To make a collision work you need to tag its name using UCX_

example: UCX_mycollision

Then select your object and collision and export selected objects as ASE format.

In case you haven't seen it yet. Muvizu has a tutorial that explains about adding collisions

Thanks Jon,

I just spent the better part of an hour cursing at my screen until finally I found the UV mapping in Carrara... and it worked! All this just to import a beer can, haha.

I checked out the many tutorials on here for collision and never got them to work. I'll try your sugestion of actually naming the object in the program, that may well do the trick. Thanks so much!

Like UKBerty, I also feel like a noob watching that vid - you make it look easy. Could you do a similar thing but show how to do it in Sketchup, which is what we can all have access to by default? I've tried to maintain the textures in Sketchup, but the ASE format doesn't seem to support them (or maybe it does, and we just need some guidance from someone like your good self!)

Nih!!
