Talk and shush on the timeline - editing question Hi sirih, thanks for trying Muvizu.

You can't insert anything into the timeline at the moment (it's something that the UI guys are considering for future releases) but what you could do is go to the end of your movie and record some extra talk/shush segments. You could then edit the start/end points of all the segments of your track to match the dialogue.

If you have any other questions or suggestions please let us know.

Take care,
-Jim.

crash at start up... Hi asaph, and thanks for trying Muvizu.

On some machines updating your Direct X Runtime to the latest version can solve launch problems - the update can be found at:

http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?displaylang=en&FamilyID=2da43d38-db71-4c1b-bc6a-9b6652cd92a3

Updating your graphics card drivers can also reduce the likelihood of crashes. You can find updated drivers for ATI and Nvidia cards here:

You can get the latest NVIDIA drivers from:
http://www.nvidia.com/Download/index.aspx?lang=en-us

And the latest ATI drivers from:
http://support.amd.com/us/gpudownload/Pages/index.aspx

Please let us know how you get on.

Take care,
-Jim.

2nd computer Hello daipongo,

Muvizu can be run off-line, but you would be unable to patch it normally (as Muvizu auto-updates from the web) so you would need to download the new version of the installer each time we release an update.

So you could download Muvizu from PC A, transfer and install it on PC B, then make your movie, transfer it over to PC A and upload it.

If you have any other questions or suggestions please let us know

Take care,
-Jim.

Crash on Startup - have updated DirectX and NVIDIA Hi grapevine, glad it worked.

No need to apologise - it's what I am here for, but it's strange that the Launcher didn't work. Do you have Windows Vista by any chance?

Take care,
-Jim.

How to save as mp4? Hi again,

The .set file isn't actually the video - it's all the stuff that you have set up.

To make the .avi file you go to:

Video>Make Video

Select a video resolution (Higher the resolution, the higher the quality)
Select a Codec (I use XVid)

Click Make Video
Choose where you want to save the video, as well as it's name

This may take a little while, depending on the length of your video and the speed of your PC.

Take care, and if you have any questions or suggestions please let us know.

How to save as mp4? Hi there, and thanks for trying Muvizu.

Muvizu can only export videos as .avi's but you could use a converter - such as

http://www.convertavitomp4.com/

or

http://www.avitomp4.net/

or

http://www.pazera-software.com/products/mp4-to-avi-converter/

I haven't tried any of them out, and of course 3rd party software is used at your own risk, but most converters are pretty easy to use and provide decent results.

Take care,
-Jim.

Cheap PCs Those of you who know about gaming might be familiar with the company "Realtime Worlds" - they were the largest gaming company in Scotland and collapsed shortly after releasing the game "APB".

Their equipment is being sold on-line by the administrator, some of which is pretty good, so if you are looking at getting a cheap PC you might want to have a quick look:

http://www.sweeney-kincaid.com/Sales/SaleDescription.aspx?SaleId=1581

Marco, Barry and I all used to work for Realtime worlds so don't feel bad about benefiting from other people's misery - the former staff should also get a portion of the sales as well, so you would also be helping them out.

Crash on Startup - have updated DirectX and NVIDIA Hello grapevine, sorry you are having trouble.

Some of the machines in the office have GeForce 310's, so it's probably not your card, but there are a couple of things that you can try:

If you go to C:\Program Files\Muvizu\Binaries (or C:\Program Files(x86)\Muvizu\Binaries if you have a 64-bit machine) you will see two .exe files: Launcher.exe and Muvizu.exe.

Launcher.exe is the application that runs when you click on your shortcut - it downloads and installs any updates then launches Muvizu.exe, the main programme.

First, could you try right-clicking on Launcher.exe and selecting "Run as administrator"

If that doesn't work try running Muvizu.exe

Please let me know how you get on.

Take care,
-Jim

Camera swing Hi Huggy,

Any Cameras/Effects/Lights present in your shot won't be visible in the final video - it's only the preview that shows them. The devs are working on a way to hide them from the preview window, hopefully it should be implemented in time for the next release.

There is a Work-around at the moment: If you click View>Hide Cameras while you have a Camera selected it will hide the other Cameras, but not the one you have selected, i.e.

Click on Camera 3
Click on View>Hide Cameras
Cameras 1, 2 and 4 will be hidden but Camera 3 will remain visible until something else is selected.

Moving the Camera like it's on a Tripod is pretty difficult at the moment, but the Devs are working on moving rotation points as we speak - that will allow you to place the rotation point in the middle of the camera and that would allow you to rotate it like it's on a Tripod.

Take care,
-Jim.

into the car Hello batmantheking, and welcome to Muvizu!

Unfortunately that isn't possible with the existing models - however you could import a custom model that has an alpha map making the windows transparent, or have a model with no windows at all.

Once you have imported the model all you would need to do is disable the "Can be stood on" option and you should be able to get the character sitting inside the vehicle.

Take care,
-Jim.

Weapons, new animations and Muzzle flashes Hello TheCursedJester,

One of our artists, Mikey, has been working away on adding particle effects - while muzzle flashes and explosions aren't being added for this release (there are some technical issues that need to be sorted) he is hoping to put them in sooner rather than later.

The ability to hold objects is something that the whole team are really eager to do - but due to the large amount of work required to get holding, picking up and dropping working for a variety of items this will take a while to implement. Even if the objects were attachments there would still need to be specific holding animations etc. created for them.

Having the effects linked to the guns is a pretty good idea - I will certainly pass that suggestion on.

Take care,
-Jim.

How do I make the camera arc? Hi RightUrKen,

The camera movements are controlled using WSAD, Up, Down, Left, Right and PageUp/PageDown.

To circle around an object you would probably want to use a combination of A,D and Left, Right.

There are some additions to camera and object movement being worked on at the moment - such as the addition of pivot points, which would make this a lot easier - that should hopefully make it into the release at the start of next month.

Take care,
-Jim.

Animatable objects-props Hi Muddybunny,

Deleting an object during animation won't be possible - as that would delete the animations as well - but the ability to make an object transparent is something that may be looked at in the future. This would allow you do do magic tricks etc. where you need an object to disappear or, in your case, animate another object.

Take care,
-Jim.
