Jacob Patterboon I use a Technics atr25 condensor mic on a mic stand. They are £45 at amazon. It is also an excellent mic for camcorders and generally voice recording. I use audacity to record my vocals first.

Any chance of a zip of all the tutorials.

Pixar Short Films DVD Is that the same as the pixar story which is free with wall-e.
One of my favourite shorts is Le buiding a wonderfull combination of 2d and 3d animation.
http://www.le-building.com/ in th style of Les Triplettes de Belleville which has to be one of my favourite full length cartoons.

Forum Overhaul With the forums would it be possible that once you login it could list the items that you haven't read.

tutorials Having watched just over half of the new tutorials. They are excellent. I found them easy to understand and informative. Found the ones on backdrops, objects and camera especially interesting.
I don't see any reason why someone would have a problem understanding the voice over as it was clear and precise.
Although the package is intuitive I still found them interesting and an excellent way of learning the functionality of the product. So many new sets and more godies to play with. Thank you Muvizu for such a great product, even though it is beta.

Fantastic ghrenig! Good work!
Buddies

Thanks for your comment and no, I managed that on my clunky laptop. Working on a couple of new clips.
Looks like you have all been working hard. It certainly seems to have paid off.
The newsite looks good. Like the bigger more obvious headers/buttons and search option.
Sounds like you have added some great functions to the application. Looking forward to playing with all the new goodies. Crikey don't know were I am going to find time to crank up my old copy of blender, people keep on phoning me up with work to do, don't they understand, I have more important things to do.

graphics card I plugged in a GF7300 GT 512mb and that has made a huge difference. Whereas it used to crawl around it now flys and the mouse is easy to use to manipulate. I can load high object sets and easily add lots of characters. What a difference.

still cant get into chair I found that it was easier to get the character to stand as close as posible in front of the seat then select the sitting down animation and they looked fine.

Intuitivity rating - high Your fart movie is the inspirartion for my next small clip. I am a fit of an old fart myself so that would seem appropriate.
Biggest problem I have is getting on with some work and not fiddling with muvizu. I' ve played around with "movies" from lionhead but I much prefer movizu. I prefer the cartoon world and the easy ability to create sets and add animated movement. I too have a slugish laptop machine which takes times to move. As far as modelling goes I could never spare the 3 months of dedicated learning.
Great stuff.

Dirty face paint, mask? glasgowjim wrote:
Hi again artpen,

There is already a Hockey mask if you want to create a character inspired by Friday the 13th, and you can use the photo face mask to import custom masks if you want to try some of the other stuff in the meantime.

-Jim.

Where do you apply the face mask and what are the dimensions ?

Keyboard shortcuts Is it possible to add some kbd short cuts to change the current view to say
view from above, view right, view left. view from opposite side.
Set a home position and be able to return to it.
Would it be able to calibrate the movement as the moving around is dependent on the speed and power of motion.
On my slower machine it is quite hard to be precise, whereas on the demos it looks relatively easy.

The program is great fun, although at some times frustrating due to lack oprecise movement and conrol.
Is there a complete list of all the movies created as I discovered some in peoples profiles.
Would be good if they could be catalogued in some way.

I find them helpfull as to what is possible with the software. eg I found an early movie with the lemmings specially funny and an approach I hadn't thought of.

Is there a specific area on youtube for muzivu clips.
Might be fun to have a what happened next competition.

My first creation. I have just uploaded my first creation with Movizu.

I found the editing of the timeline quite hard hopefully this will improve when the new release occurs. It would be helpfull to have an actual line showning where the cursor is.
A great program which I am just getting to grips.
I recordeded the vocal first then adding the animation afterwards. Then took the two clips into premiere elements 4 and stiched them together adding the extra bits of dialog.
Looking forward to the next release.

Record main view Any chance off adding a record main view function.
Set up animation as per normal in timeline. Clear all menus from the screen. Press a start record button and then a stop record button to save the animation to a fixed name file. Similar to how F11 takes a snapshot of the sreen.

Improving the speed of movement I found using the function keys F2 and F3 to turn off and on the shadows greatly improved the speed of movement.
Also when recording animation I found it helpfull to turn off the menus using f12 while getting the character to run around and then f12 to display the menus again.
I also find that using the up, down , right and left arrow keys along with the PageUp and PageDn allows you to move in smaller amounts. Along with the mouse you can really easily fly around the sets. even the complcated ones at http://www.moviesets.org

Already posted - but it was suggested might be helpfull in the tips and tricks section.

Keyboard Shortcuts If you press F1 under keyboard you get the various keyboard shortcuts.
But I have also found that f12 displays or hides the menu. Handy when playing the animation.
F2 seems to turn of the shadows. Seems to run slightly quicker.
F3 turns them back on again.

inimum machine spec Thanks Emily.
I reduced my screen size, disconnected my web connection and virus monitoring software and it started to run smoother.
One problem I had was downloading the file as even on broadband in the wilds of west wales it takes sometime to down load 500mg.
It would download 120 meg and then drop out. So I downloaded the free downloader from http://www.freedownloadmanager.org/ which is totally free and just left it to overnight. Next day the complete packge had downloaded with out any pain.

Excllent program cannot wait to see it develop to its true potential.

Hi Ghrenig

To run the application properly, your PC should be at least equal to these specs:
  • 2.4GHz processor
  • Nvidia 7800 GTX or ATI 1300 graphics card
  • 2.3GB free drive space
Your PC also needs the version of DirectX that was released in August 2008 or later and Microsoft's .NET Framework version 2 or higher. This is included in the installer, but if you already have it, the individual component installers will either tell you or just skip any unnecessary process. You can then continue to the next step in installing the application.

Generally speaking, if you keep the number of characters and lights down, and close down any other applications running at the same time, it should improve the performance.

Hope that helps!

inimum machine spec Hi there
What is the minimum spec to run muvizu
I have
xp machine svc pack 3
AMD Turion64 ML-32 with 1.87 gb f ram.
ATI Radeon xpress 200m display adapter
The mouse moves very slooooowly around the screen.
Any ways in which I can improve th speed.
I have made sure only the virus protection software is running and cut down on the services and any tasks that arernning. But it is still very slow.
The program loads ok but then the mouse is delayed in moving around the screen.
