the character models. I found out how to animate the objects, build sets, etc but for some reason I couldn't figure out how to animate the characters?

sorta frustrating. ^^;;

I find it a bit ironic to be honest I mentioned accesibility the other day in a post and that day two people start using the software who are going to have issues with accesibility :/

Anyhow apologies from the hearing world to you just keep asking questions and they will be answered I am a postoholic and there are a few others who are good at written instructions so dont despair you too can become a muvizu addict

and make silly videos like this. This was me experimenting with speech bubbles

Videos not clear enough.... Then you see a timeline pop up with that little clap board thingy like in the movies

you hit that and then the sofware runs and then you hit the buttons on that pad you just set up
so i prepared idle and hand to mouth so you hit direct, wait and when the software runs you mash the buttons to pick your desired animations

you will see in your application the timeline is white and not pink that is because before i started I grabbed the little triangle on the left of the timeline and dragged it to the right sooo that I had an area highligted for when I want to render my little video.

Anyhow I will leave it at that and let you post questions for anything that does not make sense or need further info on

hope that helps

Videos not clear enough.... you pick if you want his initial state to be Happy or sad etc and if you want him to be sitting or standing

then you see the 3 pages of animations while under prepare click a page 1 or 2 or 3 and then
click the squares underneath it to bring up a list of animations to choose from
then click the animation you want and it will then appear in the box/square you just chose.

Then click another box and repeat until you have a bunch of animations chosen you want to use on that page. So choose an animation click okay and then it appears in the box. When your in prepare the direct button shows and when your in the direct mode the prepare button shows. So we need to prepare first and then direct.

Then once you have your animations chosen hit direct to switch modes

Videos not clear enough.... your speaking of the characters that come with muvizu?

Yes they dont use the same method because they use strings of animations that are prebuilt since I am sitting here uploading things and making pretty pictures I might as well take a few snapshots of the interfaces

first you prepare the character animations

(gonna split this post as its image heavy)

Videos not clear enough.... Yes this is a good idea actually for many reasons! Some people say they can't understand the accents as well so that can all be cured with closed captioning. The youtube closed caption is in beta and alas it does not pick up words very well.

In any event post questions and we can write down info for you for the videos that make no sense.

Just got to build the rest of the prison now... Whaaaaa?

Sammamish - coming this Spring! Well, maybe summer...actually, is a Christmas release better? Big Grin

Well glad your making progress .. summer please of course even if you have all the voice recordings done its gonna take you 2-3 months to build the set and do the animations if you work at it religiously every evening. Soo maybe late summer ? Big Grin

animation 4 education Welcome,

Feel free to ask any questions as you start to use the software I am sure one of us will happen along and can provide the answer. Like anything it takes time to learn how to do things but stuff gets better with practice . May your muvizu career be long and fruitful

TALES FROM ZOMBIETOWN SEASON 2 EPISODE 11 yes get as hd/widescreen as possible especially with all these "smart tv's" etc the internet is morphing (this includes youtube) from what is termed a "lean forward" or "lean in" experience to a "lean back" experience so its becoming especially important to make things that will fit on a larger screen and be more cinematic/movie like.

soon we will all be worrying about "real 3d" that is the next step hehe.

Game, SET, and match... :) yeah the little supermarket is pretty cute. As Marco says its a bit about marketing strategy as many people dont check there unless they see a post. Then they get to know you make things and will check your feed for updates on new stuff coming out.

Watch the forums for people needing things as well and maybe put up a request thread. Myself I find that if I just read threads and see what people need i keep it in the back of my mind for things to do.

Anyhow dont stop making them I just talk to much so I dont like to post anymore comments then I already do.. i mean look at my post count haha.

So I dont post comments in every thread for every asset because I feel as if I have a bit of verbal diarrhea at times

p.s. unfortunately I am a "do-it-yourselfer" so I dont have a favourite set and I tend to rebuild things when I make a cool new texture or discover some cool new technique. However if one wants to get technical I find myself using the greenscreen set a lot for testing and loading things .. not very imaginative but its a prebuilt set that is useful to me.. (god I am borring at times hehe)

Random requests! ziggy72 wrote:
Thanks D - that request may seem quite picky, but it's because I'm working on a set with the characters scaled up as big as they'll go, which makes (for example) the Ground Fog effect into a little patch of fog, so I have to use a lot of them edge-to-edge to achieve the same effect...and it's really quite tricky to do when you can't really see the edge.

It would be simpler if we could resize the size of the particle being emitted. This is possible in other applications. At the moment we cant really control anything other then "intensity" and I guess indirectly transparency.. not that I could see, but its super easy ..i would think to add a resize option so you could match the size to the environment.. that would also make it possible for you to have a bit of smoke for your coffee and a lot of smoke sizewise for a burning house right now its "small fire and big fire" and no other option but really all this is a simple particle generator the likes that I have seen since like 2005 and usually you can resize the particle some way in other applications err of course the back end is more open but .. yeah that seems easy to do (inside my head anyhow)..

Top 3 improvements mine

1-Cameras better ability to move them the present system for camera movement well here is a non descriptive word but "it sucks".
2-props and an animating system to go with it (character attachements I guess is a better word) hats, glasses etc so we can make our own bat ears .. and hand held items guns, telephones, pens, books, food.. food and more food.. my characters are indeed quite hungry and are tired of staring at the food on the plate
3-kneeling and sitting positiions
kneeling to do things tie shoes, pick things up, look at items. open things whatevers
sit cross legged on the floor
sit on the floor in other ways

Those are mine I can think of others but you said 3 so those are my 3

We've had a go at implementing this urbanlamb. To be honest, it's not quite as clever in terms of how it looks compared to how it does on YouTube.com (for various technical reasons) but we think it does the job

I just checked and that works at least people can see that I am clearly not speaking to myself. Big Grin

also thank you very much it looks way better.. I wrote this in a hurry this afternoon and so yes your now my hero!

Whack- a- mole or trigger happy style? Dreeko wrote:

It would be interesting to know exactly what annoys/frustrates the average newbie most though, and how much of that is exactly the same as what annoys the likes of you, me and the other Muvizu extremists..

muvizu extremist hehe

I think "extremist" probably translates into "the guy who wants to tell a full story with all the bells and whistles that go along with that". I would like to suggest that there would be more extremists if things like reflexes were not hindering their productions. Now I have to say that muvizu is a cakewalk in comparison to a couple of other platforms I tried and kind of ran away from in other areas however the nagging issue is all the "real time wack-a-mole" style things they have in the software. Unfortunately I think my ideal muvizu package would likely be more like "muvi-clone" because in all cases the extremists are pointing out the issues that them other guys have delt with in that "non wackamole way". Then one needs to ask are they driving away some other users? However I dont think the wack-a-mole ideas are working that well be it with this or how they have designed camera movement its difficult to get it to work well or at least as well as you think it should work. I think the walking is good I dont have issue with that and I think the way they have designed object movement is also fine I dont see anything much that is wrong with that in fact I think its awesome lol.

Now if they can fix this stuff and I think the character animations really its just a change of how the animations are spit out because I dont think the wacking the pad and turning pages really is great in the end. It also needs the ability to copy sets of animations to other characters that you spit out and sets that you pick on the pad for one guy instead of copying that one character .. if I want to add a different character type into the mix I have to set it up again..

of course the new characters dont have the same animation sets as the old ones do (much to my shagrin) so I guess that needs help as well

(stupid typos)

Muvizu Crash err this sounds like your card has not much ram? You might want to post the specs of your system and your graphics card information and the rest of your computer as well before anyone can really tell you how to fix this if it can be fixed at all.

Animate text? Make it appear and dissapear That amount of text I am assuming you want to tell the entire story with text?

I would create myself 2d graphical images and use the backgrounds inside muvizu and animate them that way..

or you can use the classic 3d inside muvizu and they way you make something appear and disappear in a video is to film it with the item there and then delete the item and not move anything else and then refilm it and then join the ends then the object dissapears.

so how ever many frames of video with the text in it. Hit delete and then a couple of second of the area with no text in it.

However for something like a story it might be very difficult to do this so the next best way would be to create your words/captions inside photoshop or gimp and then use say a background from the backgrounds selection and choose to animate the image on that background under "prepare" menu and load all the 2D graphics onto the animate pad and then change the graphics that way

This is the basis of using the 2D method of course the object would be a background and you would use the import feature to import your graphics but the principle is the same

Whack- a- mole or trigger happy style? ziggy72 wrote:
An action list? Interesting... It could be rigged so that only the shortest possible time block (to activate the animation) would be generated, followed by a gap to represent the total length of the animation (or 1 loop), then terminated with an Idle before the next animation. It would also provide of workaround way to copy/paste a set of actions from one character to another if we can save/load the list in the Timeline. Another top idea, D!

oh this is something as well to be able to copy and paste sets of animations instead of clicking through the characters and animating them all seperately if you want to have them all do a similar set of actions it would be so much faster to do it once and then copy it over to the others you need them for.

that and the camera system on a track instead of my using my shaky hands which are getting worse over time to the point I really can't pan the camera properly would be great.

I was thinking about accessibility last night .. for some reason muvizu popped into my head (access for people with disabilities) I dont think muvizu can be used by people with any disabilities at all (maybe I am wrong.. dunno) but it seemed to me since muvizu really is something the educational world latches onto because of its lack of price tag that it follows suit that it should be fashioned so that people with poor motor control can use it.

So wack-a-mole actions and cameras and objects that can't be put on a path to make them move is sort of making it so you need be *cough* young, have full use of all your limbs and no older then 45 lol.

*quotes military guidelines from handbook for being enlisted in the service*

Anyhow I do know that wackamole frustrates a lot of people. Me I just kind of walk away from stuff if I get frustrated I have a lot of patience and have learned the art of try try again until I get it right. Unfortunately as I am well despite my best efforts to stay you know 20 and have lightening fast reflexes I have aged anyhow and my trifocals and slower reflexes make it so that wackamole is not such a good idea and so the element of luck plays a role in my animation at times now I know from experience and from the development of my ever growing persecution complex that I in fact am not a lucky person.

*goes back to try to pan that camera one more time and wack that animation interface again cause the last batch wasn't quite right*

Hi not sure but disappearing video? Hi i am unsure if this is caused by the youtube war with this very company that keeps trying to claim copyright to 20 seconds of in a carol of the bells medly created .. or not but can you let me know? I logged in and noticed that well suddenly the numbers had changed on my account and I think i am loosing my mind or something when I notice changes so I went searching to find that it was a christmas video that appears to be gone (sort of from the site)

Anyhow I am actually annoyed as its now the second claim by a subsidiary of the same conglomerate. Anyhow appologies to my knowledge this music is not something that these guys can copyright lol. The recording (lord I wish i had not put in that 20 second of that version of that not copyrighted piece) is plagued and I was considering taking it down until I ended up "mogul" and I am a neat person and dont like messing up pretty arrangements of things.. but if you are removing it let me know I can't stand it when i am constantly harassed by music societies, and some music company that tries to claim stuff they can't cause they are mad at youtube this week.

Anyhow sorry if something wierd happened.. I try to do things like you know that are legal and dont steal from anyone

Once I made a little video about scrooge you know the book "a christmas carole" written by charles dickens? universal studio kept claiming it for some reason because I had the word scrooge in there or something.. Youtube frustrates me .. then there was the time I created a video game interface in photoshop youtube told me it was from like a real video game or something, but it wasn't I was trying to mimic a first person shooter for a science fiction story I had written that I wanted to make into a movie movie .. suffice it to say I got so annoyed I pulled that down as well.

I would like to move it to dailymotion if its coming down for real.. for all i know some guy in a suit is sending you nasty letters ... (that is where I put all the stuff that big music companies want to stuff ads on that really they have no business trying to make money off of).

I would also like to suggest dailymotion as a great place to make a pluggin too. I know youtube has the most traffic but it would be cool if we had a choice from a pull down menu so we didnt have to wonder what we did this week to anger the youtube content id match gods.

Movie on MY website? yes as long as you dont make a dime from the movie and it hasn't got like the music your selling in the movie etc so basically if you use the video to adverise the music and are making a music video that is considered commercial use.

I am sure they are pretty flexible but you will need to contact them at their email to make an agreement with them. That is there info on where to get in touch with them.

websites can be multipurpose if your selling music and your videos are about your cat and your music is not in the video then they are not related, but the minute you stick your music in the video then they are related and the video is basically also an ad for music.

hope that helps.

Movie on MY website? Yes you can do this what you can't do is charge money for people to see it or place ads on it or say put it on a dvd and sell the dvd. If you do that then your making an income from it and then you have to make an agreement to pay muvizu some money because they are giving us the software free to use for NON commerical use.
