Normally a BSOD is related to drivers, but if uninstalling Muvizu clears it up, then it will probably be something else.

If I had to put money on it I would say it's a conflict with your installed codecs - but that that's just my best guess - if I was you I would uninstall all of your current codec packs and then install the K-Lite full codec pack which can be found here:

http://www.free-codecs.com/k_lite_codec_pack_download.htm
(Make sure you download the full pack)

If that doesn't work then a manual install of the latest versions of directX 9 and .Net 3.5 would be my next recommendation.

Best of luck!
-Jim

I'm sorry to hear about your computer/Muvizu woes. Reminds me of my old machines and trying to get things to work on them. Eventually, i'd end up reformatting the hard drive and starting completely over. Problem with that though was never having an up-to-date copy of Windows OS to use, so I'd end up using Linux/ubuntu. Works fine for some things, but not very Windows friendly. After years of screwing around trying to save money like this, I finally broke down and got a new machine.

Have you run a registry cleaner on your machine? That might help.
edited by HayManMarc on 07/04/2012

Hi Big Wally
Im running win 32
The BSOD is just a 1/2 second flash of blue ( no text).
Process: Pc boots - moving bar to show its loading - moving bar stops and goes to a text screen saying something like " failed to boot " no reason given.
IT gives me 2 choices 1) start as normal - this just repeats above or 2) recovery.
Recovery takes about 15 - 20 mins. Pc boots up after that but only once unless i remove Muvizu. PC boots up fine every time after that. So clearly Muvizu is the issue no doubt

One thing though Bigwally, ive downloaded all versions and each time there has been a download interuption - them i click to resume but it seems to start all over again
am i missing some files during this interuption?

thanks for your attention on this by the way........ but im losing the will to live LOL

Ed-wood

I may not ultimately have the answer, but, does it 'BSOD' on you before or after Windows loads? What is the last thing on the screen before the BSOD?

Other questions:

What version of Windows are you using? 32 or 64 bit?
Have you tried earlier versions of Muvizu? They are listed on the download page.
edited by bigwally on 06/04/2012

I ended up using Xilisoft's Video Converter (trial). The trial limits you to only 3 minute clips, but that's plenty when working with individual scenes. No watermark or other restrictions added. Very usable .

How can just downloading a file (and not installing it) cause ANY problems whatsoever? That sounds more like a problem with your file system. Possibly a corrupted master file table.

Plus you haven't disclosed the make and model of your graphics card (very important).

Ed-Wood wrote:

Never had so many probs with a software before

Then you haven't been trying hard enough!
