I think we're going to need a place to share all these great outfits that we create. in a way similar to how we share sets, 3d assets etc.

Oh! and I thought it might be nice if they were labelled. considering that they won't be shown when placed on the character.

Cheers

I don't have a Photobucket account or anything to post images, but so far I've kept it simple and have just been kind of playing around, though it was nice to give Commando Pete the sleeveless undershirt, chest hair, and shoulder tattoo his original design had.

I'm going to be playing with this feature so much I may well forget about no hand accessories to make it look like characters are holding things. Oh wait, I just brought it up. D'OH!

I've downloaded the map with labels, thanks for that!

Attention all Muvizu-ers out there who wish to create their textured outfits for characters.

We have a problem..

When you colour/texture a uv map with a new outfit and apply it to your desired character a strange bug occurs.

The teeth change colour to the same colour as you have used on the map!

But fear not!
There is a solution

Just ensure that when you colour the map you DO NOT colour the image all the way to the edges!
Make sure that the image border is clean and untouched by any colour or texture.

I repeat,

Colour out to the edges of the uv image map and the character teeth will change colour

Maintain a colour free border and the character teeth will stay the way you want them.

You have been warned.

Dreeko out.

Cheers Dave
The border workaround seems to do the trick in the meantime though

Needs extras adding to complete.

wo wo wooo wait a minute .... i just had a thought ... i trid to "copy" "paste" a clothing item from a picture i had ... however it .. failed ...but..
my intention was to "copy and "paste" a picture of clothing to the character UV map .. it failed i am guessing because the image i coppied was simply too BIG ..
i was wondering however if this would be possible to do with ANY picture and simply scale it to fit our character map and we would NOT have to draw our clothing but we could simply align and copy paste?am i just dreaming or is this a reality we can do?
mayb a request or a "how to" is what i was actually asking for

yes it is working ... all you need to do is this
1) go to the picture or immage
2) right click the immage ... and choose "open with paint"
3) open you character map and click on the "immage" icon and choose "immage properties" (for me my character UV map is 2048H X 2048W)
4)go back to your "paint program" or where ever your picture / immage is .. and REscale its size (in my case i needed to calculate 1/4 of the image i had and rescaled it to 875H X 350W)
5) save your new REscaled picture of the clothing in a new file
6) now go to that new picture (REscaled) and right click it again (this time choose the "copy" option)
7) now go back to your character UV map and click "Edit" and choose "Paste"
8) and you will now have your clothing allready drawn for you and scalled to fit! hahahahaahaha all that is left now is to line it up to the correct body part

Yip,
Copying and pasting images from photos into a map is possible and if you are using Photoshop you can also use the cloning tool to extend textures to areas where your photo doesn't reach. You can also use the pattern filter to create a whole new set of textures from photos for use on the character maps

The world's your lobster!

Enjoy!

Hi All,
Young girl in red. UV map with letters and numbers to 'find your way around.
Screenshots of front and back of character. I've put these at the top and bottom of the UV map at the ed on a run. Just so as you can get an idea of what goes where and where to add the details. I was really confused and now just amazed. Work in tiffs and save the main layer as a png file. This red outfit is just a demo and not for wearing to the pub!

Hi All,
Tried a 'Spotty Dog'. Spots are possibly too small and not enough of them, but the idea works.
Don't be put off by the UV image on website as it is completly black. The transparent parts of png files show as black in the browser! So black on black.

Screen shot of Spotty effect. Tried different colours of skin as well. All seems possible.

Hello

I'm glad to see that people are 'getting' the weird subject of UV co-ordinates. I occasionally have to teach 3D graphics and it's often the trickiest thing to explain. Anyway, I thought you'd like to see how the 'Kill Bill' costume was created for the video tutorial. Here are two links to the Photoshop file and resulting PNG file:

Photoshop: http://min.us/mbr8g0f
PNG: http://min.us/lbHJNK

Penman - the laces on the shoes were copied from another photo and pasted in place
Everyone else - if you don't have photoshop there are plenty of free PSD viewers out there, including GIMP.
