Startup crashes are generally caused by problems with your video card - there are two main types of errors:

Hardware errors:

Errors Messages beginning with "Vertex element type 5 not supported","This game requires at least Shader Model 2.0" or "Device does not support 1x 32 FP render target format."

Unfortunately this means that your graphics card doesn't meet the minimum specifications for running Muvizu - it is based on the Unreal 3 engine which is pretty resource intensive.

I have posted a guide on how you MAY be able to get Muvizu working with one of these graphics cards in the resources section at:

http://www.muvizu.com/forum/topic463-performance-increase-programmes.aspx

This is not guaranteed to work, and obviously you use any 3rd party software at your own risk.

Your graphics card needs to be a Nvidia 7800 or ATI X1300 at minimum, so if you get either of those graphics cards Muvizu should run but it may not run well.

If you want to get a more advanced card the website “Toms Hardware” does a monthly comparison of graphics cards and publishes a “best value for money” guide. It can be found in the Articles section of their website at:

http://www.tomshardware.co.uk/review/Components,1/Graphics-Cards,4/

The prices are in $US but the prices are generally similar in other regions.

Software Errors:

On some machines updating your Direct X Runtime to the latest version can solve launch problems - the update can be found at:

http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?displaylang=en&FamilyID=2da43d38-db71-4c1b-bc6a-9b6652cd92a3

Updating your graphics card drivers can also reduce the likelihood of crashes. You can find updated drivers for ATI and Nvidia cards here:

You can get the latest NVIDIA drivers from:
http://www.nvidia.com/Download/index.aspx?lang=en-us

And the latest ATI drivers from:
http://support.amd.com/us/gpudownload/Pages/index.aspx

If you do not have any of the listed errors and updating Direct X and your graphics drivers didn't help please go to the "Tech Help" forum and let us know.
