The folks at HitFilm have had a link to this course on their website for a few days. Whether you use the free or a paid version of HF, or just want to explore it more, please consider taking this 4 week class. It looks like you can work it around your schedule, and that would be great. What would be even better is having some people from this forum taking it at the same time, so we can help each other. Hey, I might be able to help!!! (I read what you were thinking, before you even thought it.)

Here is the link:

Let me and everyone else reading this if you signed up. Oh it starts on August 8.

I'm doing the course! Thought it would be a great introduction to all things VFX.
Definitely thinking about getting some Muvizu in the mix too.

Yeah, I signed up as well. Think there'll be enough seats? Big Grin Cant hurt to learn stuff, and I'm just getting into using Hitfilm myself at the moment. Could do with the course starting sooner!

ok, I have a Hit Film question already....

On my other video software, when I want to load a series of PNG files, there's a check box that tells the editor whether or not to treat it as a series of stills. In Hit film, I don't see a way to select between one contiguous scene and multiple individual pngs.

Being one to just click and see what happens... what happened is that Hit Film froze, and I had to use the 3 finger salute to get out of it.

Probably missing something painfully obvious, as usual.....

Maybe I should have spelled it Guerrilla instead of Gorilla. I guess they both can beat things up. I use help and YT videos when I am on Hit Film. I am still managed to mess up my contest entry, but part of that is because I need to remake something in Muvizu and can not edit it right in HF4. Oh well, that being said I am done with that entry. I need to learn more!

Maybe you need to load them as composite shots? Can you check load media, and then ctrl click on the shots you want in the file they are stored in and then "open" the file? Maybe if you add a whole file at one time it uses it as image sequence?

Since I have the new computer HF does not freeze as much. I am sure they have a tutorial to help you.

With hit film if you want to use more then one png, and the way I always do it is, i take one png file and I drag and add it to the editor's timeline, then I right click and choose to make composite shot, when you do that it creates that png's own tab and should open up once you make composite shot, so in that png's composite shot is where you do all of the animation, so whenever you want to use it for a background you do all of the work in that tab, so when you go back to the editor's timeline and play it back you will see it play, is this what you mean

Pat, next to the Import button is a little triangle - when you click that you get the option 'Image Sequence'.

Thanks guys.... I appreciate the help.

Now that I got past that hurdle, I have to say that I really like Hit Film so far... the basic editor functions work about the way other editors work, but it runs faster and cleaner than my other editor. Add all the compositing capabilities and I think this purchase was well worth it.

Buying a different version of something I already have is often a recipe for second-guessing and buyer's remorse... but ... not this time.

Thanks for the product recommendation, UKBerty!
