Hi y'all, I have Muvizu on two computers, one I use mainly for rendering as it has a more powerful video card, and the other for creating textures and characters. I know that the custom characters come with the project file, but they don't show up in the library. Any idea how I would do that?

im not quite sure what that means? do you want them to show in your favourites? when i installed onto a new computer i had saved all the characters i had made onto a single set. then saved them in favourites on my new pc. plus its good to have the set as a backup if things go wrong somewhere down the line.

Yes, I would like to have all my own custom characters in my favorites folder of the other machine. I can't seem to do much of anything with the favorites folder aside from adding and deleting, it would be nice to save them to a single set like you describe and keep them safe.

ok. yeah the only way is the saved set way to get from one computer to another. so yep just put them all on a set and load that into your new computer and save them in muvizu. and keep the set safe somewhere as backup. also its good practice to save any new characters in their own set too.

All well and good except that... I do not know how to create a set. I do not know how to move this set from one device to another. For instance, the only way I know to even get to the Favorites folder is to click 'Create' then Characters, then favourites. I've tried right clicking, everything, I can't do anything in, or with, this folder.

ok. just load all the characters up in a blank scene. click on file up in the corner of muvizu. click on save as.... name the set whatever you want and save. now to transfer from one computer to another... use a usb flash drive, or if you have a dropbox account or some sort of file saving thing online, upload it there and download onto your new computer. or save it in an email as an attachment and download from that. theres many ways to transfer. i prefer the dropbox because it will save onto your new computer and you just have to drag and drop it where ever you want.

Ok, thanks. That's basically what I've been doing. I just wish there was an easy way to dump the new characters into the other machines Muvizu without going the 'save as' route.

I've been wondering about how the "favorites" are managed by Muvizu. There must be a database file somewhere that keeps track of everything that gets added . I can see how in time, anybody who actually added all the characters from the store to their favorites list for easy recall could have a very hard time fitting all the favorites into a set for transfer to another machine. So, if there is in fact a database file that could get copied and moved, that would be slicker.

For small transfers, however, I think adding them to a SET works pretty well, because you don't have to worry about separately saving and moving all of the attachments etc that were used to create the characters

I recently bought a 1 terabyte mini USB drive exactly for situations like this when I need to move a whole installation of something to another computer without missing anything. Such drives are cheap now. I was surprised.

Favourites get saved to a folder (usually "C:\Users\All Users\Muvizu\Favourites") on your hard drive. Each favourite is a .FAV file and you should be able to simply copy them from one machine to another.

I hope that helps.

AWESOME! Thanks Neil! I was hoping somebody from Muvizu would chime in with the key information!

Note: On my Windows 8 machine, the path is C:\ProgramData\Muvizu\Favourites\

I didn't specifically choose that directory, so I assume it happened automatically.. which would suggest that other people's favourites may be found there too. (It may be peculiar to an operating system or OEM's schema )

Well that explains why they seem independent to Muvizu when uninstalling and re-installing. Thanks for the insight Neil!

I can find none of these folders C:\Users\All Users\Muvizu\Favourites or anything like them, also no sign of any .FAV file types on my Windows 10 64bit computer.

The closest I came to it is program files/muvizu play/muvizu game/content/packages which contain files called .upk i.e. at_beefyz-hats.upk

I'm no further ahead for a quick and easy solution to moving my favourites from one computer to another, but I've figured out a work-around which will have to do.

it is there on windows 10

type .fav in the search box, it should only take a few seconds. it will show as a favourites folder in the list. right click on that and click on open folder location

Okay, now I find them. Thanks fazz68. However ProgramData appears to be a greyed-out folder not normally searched.

Yes, important to note: in order to see the ProgramData folder, you must enable 'show hidden files and folders'

Just discovered this thread. Thanks Neil for clearing up the Favourite issue, it was such a pain making blank sets just to transfer favs between machines. This is sweet.

I have discovered that on Windows 8.1 (x64) the address where favourites live are called "Presets"
Location of favourites folder: Program Files ->Muvizu Play -> MuvizuGame -> Presets
also: you must enable 'show hidden files and folders'

I hope that it keeps more hair on many heads
