Hello everybody
Here is a medical student trying to use this amazing software to build some "memory palaces".
For the moment, since I have exams in front of me, I do not want to invest too much time in a beautiful result; it just has to work.

Since I need to use a lot of celebrity faces to remember certaing things, is there a way somebody could suggest me to make that pretty quick?

Thank you everybody!
Enjoy!

Hi, You could use the photo face mask. Just change the picture of the texture for the mask for the personalities you need.
Here is a screenshot:

Note: You might need to remove the nose, hairs, and eyes to clearly see the picture.

Thank you so much for the answer.
To get it the right size, should I modify my picture somehow in photoshop?

Ok I actually played around with sizes of pictures and the result is pretty what I was looking for.
Just another question (sorry for stressing ): if I remove the lips on photoshop and then put the picture as a mask, why can´t I see the lips of the character beneath? It is not that important, but it would give it just a better look with little work.

Thank you!

Hi, the facemask covers the mouth. What you want, you can do with the custom textures. They are located here: http://www.muvizu.com/Info/98/Custom-textures

When editing a character, on the tab decals you can load a custom texture.

Thank you! Is there a tutorial showing how to put a face from a picture found on the internet in a custom texture?
I saw already the tutorial shown on this website, but putting the face up is much more difficult than that.

I don't know of any tutorial on this. It's a question of placing, loading it in muvizu and see how it looks. Then adjust anything untill it looks good. You only have to place the head and leave the rest of the body transparent. You have to kind of unfold the face / head in photoshop. Maybe there are tutorials on youtube about uv mapping a head. It's quite common for different 3d programs.

The face mask is the "easy" and quick way. Creating a custom texture for the character and placing pictures to have a match for the mouth is really time consuming and it will surely distord the picture (theses are still cartoon character). You might loose more of the ressemblance using this method.

you can put textures on any attachment... if you know how to model and you don't mind taking time for trial and error development, you could make your own face mask with an opening for the mouth

Or you might even try creating a face graphic that has the mouth area "alpha'd out" to make that part of the face mask transparent, revealing the character's mouth underneath. This works on ASE models that are imported separately, but on attachments I'm thinking the alpha area will just be turned to black. (because you don't get the chance to pick how alpha channel is applied to attachments)

Which character are you using? I might be able to make you a custom face mask for that character that leaves the mouth uncovered

Shoot me a PM telling me which character and your email address, and we'll take it from there.

the procedure for adding photo faces to character templates is as follows:

1) open the character's UV template in a graphic editor that allows layers (Photoshop or equivalent)
2) open a photo of the face you want to place on the character
3) crop the face to a rectangular image that includes a front view of the head, (no shoulders)
4) hilight and copy that image
5) click on the tab for the UV template to make it the active document
6) EDIT > Paste as new layer (or, create a new layer in the document and paste it there)
7) use the select tool (the arrow pointer) to select the pasted object
8) use the handles to drag, resize and rotate as necessary to put the face in the right place on the template
9) then hide the template layer (to keep the UV lines from showing up on your character)
10) save the face as a PNG file at a location where you can find it later

back in Muvizu:
1) right click on your character to open the EDIT dialog
2) click the DECALS tab
3) click the CUSTOM TEXTURE icon
4) on the dialog that appears, click IMPORT
5) navigate to your PNG file and select it

you character now has the face you added to his UV Map!

I usually keep the image editor open so I can tweak the positioning until it imports the way I want it.
