BTTF I vaguely remember it, but... maybe I tried to forget it

my IMPORT button is missing... You use Create > Import from the top menu instead. Was there an import button on that window before? Can't remember, I always used the menu method.

01/10/2105 Release Feedback Trying to get around the DoF issue (on the set I sent in), I changed my set to DX9, and the camera outputs are now all black.

My new Spoof Trailer Oh there's humour to be found in Star Wars, that's for sure, and I didn't mean you were being flippant or disrespectful, just... very very silly It's all good though, and I look forward to seeing your Hoth spectacular.

My new Spoof Trailer Clayster, I'm beginning to think you're not taking the whole Star Wars genre seriously... Big Grin

01/10/2105 Release Feedback I just tried to use a spotdark in a set - lol, totally screwed up. All objects reflect the dark as pure white! You can see it in the preview window and the camera windows. Bulb or spot, same effect. Oh dear...

Forgot to mention - only happens when our old friend DoF is turned on

01/10/2105 Release Feedback I have a problem - I need smoke in a room. The Muvizu smoke is very nice when you use a better texture, but all of Muvizu's effects kill DoF (very efficiently). So I can have smoke or DoF, but never both. I had hoped that particular issue would have been fixed by now since it renders all effects essentially useless to those of us that like to use the cameras as, y'know, proper cameras. At least now I've got layers to try to get around it, but it would be SO much simpler if you could just fix whatever it is that wipes out the DoF around effects. Please

Ziggy, can you make a simple set to reproduce this? Does it only happen on this set? If it happens on your simple scene can you email me the .SET file?

Yes and no... I made a simple set to demonstrate this, and for the first time I could see the flickering on the preview window but the rendered output was now clean - Whaaaaa? Tried a different set, no problems, tried the original set and again no problems - I can't reproduce it, and yet I've been banging my head off it for 2 days. Hopefully it was just some update issue on my machine, or it might be a 'per-session' thing, or whatever - I'll let you know if it comes back, thanks anyway.

Depth of field and layers ukBerty wrote:
Now layers are pretty mush sorted I thought I'd post a "How To" on creating depth of field in a compositor rather than using Muvizu...

When rendering your layers tick the "depth pass" option. This creates an additional TGA sequence which looks like this…….

The darker the image the closer it is to the camera.

I use HitFilm as my compositor so I will demonstrate the effect in that.

Add a grade layer and apply a lens blur effect. Set the depth pass layer as a source for your lens blur effect (setting the source channel to Luminance).

You then get this effect on the layers below......

Focus is quite subtle in this shot, but you get the idea. There must be something similar in other compositors.

If I don’t need any compositing then I just do everything in Muvizu.

Had to read this 3 times till it sunk in - that is actually an awesome feature. So the lightest bit would be the furthest away, and Hitfilm's just using the depth pass as a variable mask for the blur effect on the actual footage? There must be something like that in Vegas, I'm sure, I'll report back if I find out - it just so happens I have a problem shot that could be fixed by using this very technique...

The BIG Ol' Codec**t and Windows 10... EEF, it's TGA all the way. Seriously, the file sizes are still going to be huge regardless of which codec you use anyway (in HD), and hard drives are cheap. TGA takes the same amount of time to render, has no limits, keeps all it's frames in a dedicated folder, and you can alter individual frames (in photoshop or whatever) before you edit them together. Sod movie files, get the source frames and you have so much more control, like ukBerty just posted about (the Depth Pass option, another TGA bonus feature). Embrace it dude! Big Grin

Jar Heads: Episode One (Call for Backup) I like them muzzle flashes Nice job, but you need to balance your sound a bit better. The background fx were as loud as the voices so it was hard to make out what they were saying. If you did it all in the program then fair enough, I know you can't balance the sound inside Muvizu at all well.

20/08/15 reelase feedback ...just like the lurking eye movement bug, which will occasionally 'lock' a characters eyes to default during a render, but never in preview, so you don't know about it till afterwards. Can't replicate it ever, since redoing the render usually clears it, but it definitely happens.

How do i get muvizu to launch? Without knowing what your error says, which version of Muvizu you're using, and what version of Windows you're using, no one here can advise. So...

Points aggressively to tester badge

Yup, that's why we've got the badge. Was just saying to ukBerty the other day that I never switch versions until it's all working which is why I will be sticking with v1.3 for a bit longer, it seems. I still have v1.2 (previous best stable version), and then the 0.23b final beta version, and then 0.18b (previous best stable beta version). Okay, I will never need the beta versions again, but I so distrusted Play until v1.2 that I kept them, just in case. I hate losing sets to buggy versions! And there really should be a warning associated with 'do you want to download the update?' message box, just to let people know they'll be acting as testers, not just consumers.

Digging! There's not many Actions that include bending over too much, but I think that the Wobbly > Rest On Knees (I think it's called) action might help with your long shots, and then something else for a close up of the shovel digging...I think that's the only way you're going to be able to 'sell' the idea that the character is using the shovel. Oh, the Pirate > Stand On Bow action might be good for this, since the character will put his foot up to about shovel height so you can make it look like he's standing on it. Maybe - all depends on how you frame it really. Is it Halloween time already?! Shock

QUADRAPED IDEA.... PatMarrNC wrote:
I especially like the fact that your scenes have the appearance of being storyboarded... each one frames well in its own right!

I must confess I didn't storyboard that one at all, and just made it up as I went along. The dialogue was created out of necessity to make the point, but I never intended to make that video quite like that... it just sorta evolved into what it is

Remember, if you want to see someone's vids just click on their name in the forum and then you should go straight to their content page with all the stuff they've posted. I'd recommend you start with the Moguls and work your way through...there's some awesome (and crazy) content created by this community (I'm looking at you, Fazz68... Big Grin)

QUADRAPED IDEA.... LOL yes, it needs more legs less arms You can't give a group of characters a movement direction, so I guess that's a clue as to the kind of restrictions the Muvizu system has to work with. Regardless, keep up the protest vids - I made one (A Fistful Of Coders) to petition for holding things, and that happened...eeeeeeeeeventually Big Grin
