hi just a bit confused you said moviestorm at the end of this all perhaps your mixing things up but I will answer anyhow

You can make the ship look likes it floating on water fairly easily and have the ship move etc what you cant do is have the people move with the ship without resorting to some sort of compositing that I can think of at the characters cannot be linked to the ship in any way and have it move as a unit so a project like this would require some interesting camera trickery

to have the ship sink and look like its hitting an iceburg etc and breaking up i am assuming you need to build several models at differnt stages (well at least this is how I would do it unless I wanted to resort to after affects for part of it in fact you might do both again it depends on the tools at your disposal) for myself i would build several models and then shoot the scene in various stages of destruction replacing the model carefully and re record without moving any cameras or changing perspective.

for modelling I dont use sketchup but you can get the software to make models jamie made an exporter and its usually easiest to bulid low to no collision models and use ground planes and set them to transparent. To get them to look like they are moving with the ship you can create movie an empty background where the ship would be by panning the camera and then either greenscreen the ship and people on in different layers or import the movie into muvizu (not moviestorm) and play it behind the ship.

here is the link to the page which has the sketchup importer I have no clue how sketchup works I am a blender head

you can also create water by having a water movie *.avi and have it play as a ground texture that is probably the simplest way.

Anyhow you can make the ship physically move but you can't have any avatars physically move with the ship.

I would like to hide the Muvizu logo and stick it in the opening credits but if it cannot be done, it doesn't matter much to me.

Since Muvizu is beta so the logo is embedded but to remove it you must email them and it is mostly for videos that are being done for profit and are considered on a case by case bases. hope that helps.

MUVIZU IS BETTER THAN MOVIESTORM!

That was just getting that off my chest.

Again, sorry for the error in the post but. I have a tendency to mix things up.

haha okay (i tend to agree but then i am biased ^^) *cough* moving on
...anyhow yeah for the logo you do need to ask permission as you have to sign an agreement in many cases. Hopefully a sketchup user comes along soon to help you with that I know this texture thing is common I have seen the question asked before but I cant recall the answer you might find it doing a forum search .

Hi Craig - to save you time :

I want the boat to move across the screen but I also want anyone on deck to go with it. It will tilt vertical, maybe split if possible and then sink out of view with people still on it

Nope, can't do that in Muvizu. Just not doable, unless you're a whiz with post production editing and manuipulation. Characters can move by walking/running or using their pre-set animations, but you can't move them along where you want (except directly up/down by standing on a moving object, but only up/down).

And the textures in Sketchup? The exporter doesn't export the textures, just a reference to what they are. You have to export the textures seperately, and put them in the same folder as the .ase file. Dylly found a great little tool for this here :

Muvizu doesn't always scale the textures properly even after all that, but at least you can try
Hope that helps.

Hi Craig,

For any enquiries related to the removal of the water mark / license, please send us an email to: commercial@muvizu.com with full details about your project.

But before you do you can read the information on this page http://muvizu.com/Info/Commercial_enquiries

Cheers,
Marco
