First off, the latest version of Sketchup is actually not a good place to start. Download the older version, Sketchup 8. (I found it (again) here : http://www.downloadcrew.co.uk/article/13205-google_sketchup )

Then have a look through this topic... http://www.muvizu.com/Forum/topic3486-import.aspx ...which will get you started, and the plugin that works is here : http://www.rodneyandberty.co.uk/downloads/

Good luck out there

Looks like the old toto.bmp problem.

You need a file called c:\ut3\toto.bmp which is a 256x256 pixel image which traditionally is a sickly pink.

I have uploaded mine here - http://www.rodneyandberty.com/downloads/toto.bmp

Thanks for that - couldn't find the link on Sketchup's site to get to that bit (which I thought should be easy to find, but no...) so had to find it elsewhere. Good to know Trimble haven't ruined Sketchup completely then

Hi All. I've been having the same problem as Muvizupepe but have followed the advice given to him and it has fixed the problem of getting the model into Muvizu. However, when I get the downloaded model into Muvizu it has lost the lovely textures (the model is a tree) and replaced it with pink. How can I get the tree textures from the Sketchup model to replace the pink???? No texture comes with the model except the ones already on it?

Hi there

There are probably other better ways but:

If you have the texture files separate already you just need to edit the object in Muvizu and then reassign them.

If you do not have the texture files separate already you need to export them out of sketchup first by selecting the texture and saving the file.

It is possible that the tiling will not be correct when it loads up in Muvizu. You can solve this by changing the tiling in sketchup before you export or within the .ase file output.

It's all a bit fiddly and there may well be a better way.

Hi it’s me Muvizupeppe. When you’re in Skecthup first exporting the file in ase, you must save the obiect’s texture in a folder, after when you’re in Muvizu, import the file ase, click on it, make edit there, you can change the colour o add the texture saved. In this video at minutes 6.02 you can see it.

Thanks for the advice. At least I can see that there is more than one way to do something in Muvizu. In the end, I've decided it's just as simple to add a blank backdrop and import a tree texture and stick this to the backdrop. I was hoping to send a picture along with this post to show how the trees look in the scene but there doesn't seem to be a way.

I solved the problem with the TOTO FILE, but I noticed that if I try to import complex objects such as entire cities, Muvizu tells me OBJECT TOO BIG O OUT OF THE SCENE. I wondering if Is there a limit to the object the you can import into muvizu?

you need to worry about collission and things try moving around also yes there is a limit on faces of about 75,000 per object but you would get a different message saying too many faces and giving the limit. This one is collission or size it does have a size limit as well but usually its the collision that is the issue.

yes and read the thread as well and there is a link to something called ziggy mesh in that thread to reduce collision to almost nothing it puts a block in the center this is if i remember all in the sketchup thread.
