Undo last recording button ukBerty wrote:
When you are in the timeline recorder it should show you the timeline for the specific track you are recording. So if you're doing character actions you would see the actions for just that character. As you record they would pop up on the line (or if that's not possible appear when you press stop). You could then adjust the timing of these in timeline recorder mode, deleting or recording more as you require. This would speed up my animating anyway.

This is something we've been wanting to do for quite a while but for boring technical reasons, we can't right now.

We currently force you out of the current direct mode and bring up the timeline to try and illustrate what change the undo operation has just performed. Once we're able to display event blocks on the recorder tracks, we'll let the undo operation keep you in direct mode. Watch this space*.

Er , I guess it might (thinking about it). Does it undo multiple moves if they occur in the same take ?

Ummmm... I think so. There's an easy way to find out.

Can I make a suggestion for a button which undoes the last recording session.

Sorry if I'm missing something, but doesn't the undo button already do this?

It is a little odd for the application to be set up this way - maybe someone from Muvizu will let us know why they have designed it so ??

We didn't so much "design it so" as "not realise it was going to happen". The problem is down to the location of Muvizu's data files that contain the list of characters, objects, textures, etc. We tried to fix it once upon a time, but it broke Windows XP (if I remember correctly). There's a proper fix coming in a future release, so in the meantime please bear with us and accept our apologies.

Feedback on Muvizu - 5th September 2011 (ENG) ukBerty wrote:
1) Dialogue sync (you know about this already)
2) Can't save characters with decals as favourites
3) We lose our favourites when upgrading versions (this is becoming tiresome !)
4) A tickbox to turn off collision for given objects. I really don't see what the problem is here. Characters don't collide - they can walk through objects and walls. You can push objects through walls if you take a run up. Imagine the scenario - I have created a complete set of a room, including ceiling - how do I put objects in it without taking the ceiling off all the time ??? Whinge whinge
5) Better control of characters small movements - if I want to move two steps I can't drag or double click as this does nothing, so I have to take two individual steps, which just looks weird and I avoid doing it.
6) Why is the order of icons on the decals tab for characters in a different order depending on the model (i.e Man/Fatman etc).
7) Head and eye movement windows jump when directing.
8) Direct buttons stopping working (just change to timeline and back and they're active again).
9) When moving a camera movement along the timeline the cameras window does not reflect the new position of the camera

Hi ukBerty. I thought I'd better offer some feedback on your err... feedback. :-/

1) Dialogue sync.
You're right, we're looking into this. It'd help if you could quickly describe the sort of sync issues you're having, just so we're sure we're on the right track.

2) Saving favourites with decals
Sadly, textures are too complex a thing for the favourites to store. We're looking at a few ways of fixing it, including saving the character as a mini-set of its own, which might bring a few other benefits along the way.

3) Losing favourites
Hmmm... I can see why that would be annoying. Does this happen with every new release? If so, I have a theory why this happens, but the man responsible for that bit of Muvizu is off today with a sniffle, the poor wee lamb. I'll poke him with sticks when he returns and find out what's going on there. In the meantime, please accept my apologies and feel free to suggest any alternative forms of motivating him to fix it.

4) Turning off collision
This is something we've talked about a lot, and sadly it's not as straightforward as it sounds. Watch this space, however.

5) Small character movements
Character movement isn't really my field, so Barry or Dave would be able to offer much better excuses than me.

6) Decal ordering
I have no idea why they're in a different order! They're supposed to be alphabetically sorted. We'll look into it.

7) Directing head and eyes
I've already fixed this for you since you whinged so nicely about it earlier.

8) Unresponsive buttons
We've seen this bug happen quite a lot, but it's almost impossible actually to pin it down and work out what's causing it and why. We're on it, however.

9) Camera window
This is a new one on me. Can you describe a few simple steps to reproduce this and we'll look into it. Ta.

In the meantime, thanks for the feedback and please accept my apologies for the suffering you've endured. If it pleases you, I'll have one of our developers* flogged.

* Not me.

Each time you hit the space-bar it records the previous action over again instead of stopping.

Sounds like you've got a button keyboard-focused. Space will stop the recording otherwise. I reckon we need to pick a different keyboard shortcut.

I'd mentioned this one before as well. I had been using the 5 key to return the head to the starting position rather than the Release button as I much prefer using the keyboard. I guess I'll have to use the mouse after all...

Or press the 0 key on the numpad which will have the same effect.

...the only thing that is crap is the timeline... sorry for being blunt..
I've tried to like it, work with it, but but but NO...
Sorry but the old time line for fine tuning was perfect.
This new one is soooo hard to fine tune your small animations like head turns ect.
Its hard trying to click on an animation, its hit or miss most of the time.

Hi Artpen,

The timeline will be receiving some serious love and attention over the next few releases, so hopefully we can remedy the situation. Could you be a bit more specific about the issues you're experiencing so I know where to focus my attention? Feel free to either reply here or PM me directly if you want to discuss it.

Can the create object window be made scrollable Hi Toonarama,

This is something I'm working on. Unfortunately adding a scrollbar breaks other aspects of the layout, so I've had to leave it out for the time being. But fear not, it's something that will definitely happen in a future release.

Hey Neil, this is my own mistake here. "Online" has the little collapsable menu arrow next to it which I was taking as it was selected at a glance. In fact, you're right: no group is selected. I guess then that my request is to have Recent selected as a default rather than nothing.

Aha! In that case, your wish is my... well, actually, it's a small penciled in comment near the bottom of my todo list, but to be fair that's the best you're getting.

When going into any of the "create" menus, or even the New Scene menu, the default is "Online," which is an option I for one have scarcely, if ever, used. The old default was "Recent" which makes much more sense from a workflow perspective and is far more useful.

Any chance of reverting to Recent as the default? Just wondering.

Danimal, could you be a bit more specific, please? There are a few places where no category is initially selected and I can improve it by selecting "Recent", but I can't see anywhere where "Online" is the default category.

Hmmm... that's odd. Everything I can find on this particular error seems to suggest that should fix it.

Would you mind installing the .Net Framework separately using the link below then try running Muvizu again, just to check. Thanks.

can't open Muvizu...got an error msg...... Hi Kasun,

Sorry you're having trouble. Hopefully we can fix it and get you going.

That sort of error message usually means there's a problem with your .Net installation. When installing Muvizu, it asks you to install three additional components: Visual C++ Runtime, DirectX Runtime and .Net Framework. Did you leave these ticked, or did you untick them?

If you unticked them, you should be able to fix it by running the installer again and leaving the boxes ticked.

Alternatively, you can install .Net Framework 3.5 separately here:

Let us know how you get on and if needed, we'll look into it further.
